Park + Vine says no to Black Friday, goes for hike instead

For the second year in a row, Park + Vine is closed for Black Friday and instead inviting people to spend time outside. Join Park + Vine and Imago, an environmental education organization in Price Hill, for the second annual Plaid Friday Urban Hike Nov. 25. Dress in plaid and join us on a walk through quiet historic city streets and forested hillsides with amazing views of downtown Cincinnati

Group heads out at 10 a.m. promptly and walks six to eight miles with a stop at an overlook for lunch (included in cost) before continuing and ending around 1 p.m. at Park + Vine. Wear comfortable shoes and dress accordingly. Bring a backpack to carry your lunch and pack water. Pups and kids welcome. Hike is rain or shine

Park + Vine is closed Nov. 24 and 25, and reopens its doors Nov. 26 for Small Business Saturday. Plaid Friday is named after an alternative to Black Friday that started in Oakland, California in 2009. According to the National Retail Federation, recent years have seen the typically one-day blowout of “Black Friday” move into the entire week with promotions running through November and December
