Enjoy yourself at a special fundraising event benefitting Community Shares of Greater Cincinnati 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 16 at Hotel Covington, 638 Madison Ave., Covington.

Evening includes comedy of Sweett Biscut, live auction with Brooklyn, and DJ Thaddeus. Reception includes food, two complimentary drinks, and a cash bar. Tickets are $85 before midnight Feb. 15 or $115 at the door.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Community Shares raises awareness and support for member organizations through workplace giving campaigns, professional enrichment, community education, and a variety of innovative initiatives.

Green Drinks with Community Shares

Every month people with an interest in environmental issues meet up at informal sessions known as Green Drinks. Part of an international networking event, it’s a lively mixture of people from academia, government and business. People are encouraged to invite someone else along, so there’s always a different crowd, making Green Drinks an organic, self-organizing network. These events are very simple and unstructured, but many people have found employment, made friends, developed new ideas, done deals and had moments of serendipity

Slow Cooker event benefits Community Shares

Celebrate slow food in style with Community Shares at Vegan Slow Cooker Throwdown 6 to 8 p.m. on Meatless Monday, March 19 at Park + Vine. Show us your vegan slow cooking skills and see if you have what it takes to gain bragging rights! Try your hand at soups, stews, tofu, tempeh, seitan and textured vegetable protein or a blend of your favorite veggies. We seriously want you to wow us with your mad slow cooking skills with at least one-gallon or samples for up to 50 people) and win prizes (Vegan Slow Cooker by Kathy Hester and more!). Up to 20 entrees are featured. Everyone who attends gets a ballot and votes in three categories. Judges include Community Shares Board President Tom Hodges, Yelp! Senior Community Manager Alex Shebar and Nikki Galea Franz of Crock of Love. It’s $10 to enter and $15 for tastes. Kids under 10 are free. Drinks are separate. Fire up your crocks!
