Instead of landfill, how about a doormat?
Sandal factories have always generated surplus foam rubber in the production of their flip-flops. But some creative minds figured out how to give this unloved material a second life. Instead of heading to a landfill, the flip-flop rubber is made into doormats, using galvanized metal wire, and available at stores such as our own Park + Vine.
You can clean your feet–and keep more rubbish out of landfills–with these colorful and durable mats. They’re manufactured in the Philippines and distributed through Bitters Co., a funky general store in Seattle. Due to the recycled nature of the mats, the size, color and pattern vary. Even better.
